Grass
Kulsum was grazing goats in the hills of Taftan, Balochistan, area with scanty vegetation. Suddenly, Earth shook. Afraid, Kulsum rushed home with Nibras in arms. Way back home, radio announced detonation of Nuclear bomb.
Kulsum’s family rejoiced, ate dinner of vegetables, lentils and meat and fell asleep.
Over the next weeks, meals contained more of meat as people fed on livestock. One day Nibras was served on the dinner plate.
In the background, radio was booming “we will eat grass but make bomb”. Kulsum looking on the plate mumbles…”not even grass to eat.”
